MyDna & FitGenes

Personalised Health and Wellbeing Profile

The MyDna or Fitgenes Fast Track to Health program is based on the science of Nutrigenomics and how our genes are influenced by our nutrition, exercise and lifestyle.

Scientific evidence tells us that our genes are not static, but in fact responsive to the choices we make, which impacts how effectively they ‘express’ themselves.

Gene expression is a way of explaining how we feel in terms of our well-being and how effectively our bodies function.

Based on a non-invasive saliva sample which is analysed and returned to us as a personalised genetic profile, we are able to take a holistic approach to address facets of your genetic profile that reveal what nutritional supplements will benefit you the most, the best choices of foods to consume and the type of exercise that will have a positive effect.

This effectively eliminates any guesswork around what will work for you as the treatment plan is based on your own genetic profile.

We all have areas of our health and wellbeing that would like to address, such as:

  • Weight loss
  • Relief from joint pain
  • Better sleeping patterns
  • Regulation of hormone imbalances
  • Healthier ageing
  • Menopause balance
  • Heart health
  • Increased energy and vitality
  • Blood pressure

The Health Program takes a holistic approach to your healthcare and I can offer you a personalised and proactive approach to planning your treatment focusing on health and wellbeing matters that affect you, rather than a one size fits all approach.

If you have done the Ancestry.com or 23andme DNA test these results can be interpreted for you regarding Fitgenes, lowering the cost significantly. This doesn’t apply for MyDna at this stage.

Please note we do not test specifics for diseases such as breast cancer or any other disease. Gene tests for these markers need to be undertaken by your doctor.

Package cost is $895 (price will differ with Ancestry.com or 23andme DNA tests for Fitgenes)

This includes the test kit; Lab cost; analysis & interpretation; and 60 minutes consultation to discuss results. As a registered MyDna & Fitgenes Practitioner, I can guide you through this process from start to finish.

Fitgenes Carb Choice / AMY1

Carb Choice is a personalised genetic profile report of the AMY1 gene, which determines how effectively you metabolise starch from carbohydrates.

AMY1 is a gene that produces the enzyme amylase. Amylase is found in saliva and plays a major role in the digestion of starch, which is a carbohydrate found in grains, legumes, fruit, vegetables, nuts and seeds.

Variations within the AMY1 gene influence how well your body can break down and process starch, meaning that some people can tolerate these carbohydrates better than others.

Starch is the most common carbohydrate included in human diets however, there is a considerable range of variation between cultures of dietary starch intake.

Test your AMY 1 gene to help you understand

  • How effectively do you metabolise and tolerate carbohydrates
  • How effectively do you metabolise and tolerate gluten
  • Do carbohydrates put you at an increased risk of being overweight
  • Do carbohydrates put you at an increased risk of having diabetes
  • How many grams of carbohydrates can you eat per day
  • What type of carbohydrates should you avoid
  • How effectively do you use your carbohydrates for energy

Who should test their AMY 1 Gene?

Anyone who wants to understand how their body metabolises and tolerates carbohydrates and make the best dietary choices for themselves.

  • Gluten intolerant or Celiac
  • Food sensitivities
  • Struggling to lose weight or maintain weight loss
  • Diabetic or insulin-resistant
  • Gut dysbiosis under or overgrowth
  • Autoimmune issues
  • Persistent infections such as thrush or urinary tract infections
  • Have periodontal (gum) disease

This includes the test kit; Lab cost; analysis & interpretation; and 45 minutes consultation to discuss results.

As a registered Fitgenes Practitioner, I can guide you through this process from start to finish.

Fitgenes Food Choice

In this report, you will identify some of the foods or drinks that you should consider minimising or avoiding in order to prevent diet-related health issues and promote wellness, according to your genetics.

In particular, the report details your specific genetic variants that can influence your body’s response to what you ingest – ranging from coeliac disease risk and dietary intolerances to individual sensitivities to common ingredients, in addition to food allergies – with genotype-specific interventions.

This information, combined with other assessments, can be used to design even more personalised and targeted interventions to maximise your health potential.

In order to simplify the results, the genes tested as part of your personal profile have been grouped in the following categories:

  1. Coeliac Disease Risk
  2. Lactose Intolerance
  3. Alcohol Intolerance
  4. Caffeine Sensitivity
  5. Salt Sensitivity
  6. Histamine Intolerance
  7. Food Allergies (Predisposition)

This includes the test kit; Lab cost; analysis & interpretation; and 45 minutes consultation to discuss results.

As a registered Fitgenes Practitioner, I can guide you through this process from start to finish.
